KITTEN AND CAT VACCINES
Kittens typically receive their first shots when they are 6 to 8 weeks old and a second round when they are around 12 weeks old. The final round is administered at roughly 16 weeks of age. For older cats with unknown vaccine histories, however, shots can be started at any time. Several factors are taken into consideration when determining which vaccines a particular cat needs. In general, however, we typically recommend rabies, feline calicivirus, feline parvovirus, and feline herpesvirus shots for cats.
PUPPY AND DOG VACCINES
Puppies should be started on a vaccine schedule at 6-8 weeks of age and get their second round when they are around 12 weeks old. The final vaccinations are typically given at 16 weeks of age. For older dogs with an unknown vaccine history, vaccinations can be started at any time. Dogs are usually vaccinated against rabies, parvovirus, distemper, hepatitis, and parainfluenza. Additional vaccines, such as the Bordetella vaccine, may be recommended depending on lifestyle factors.
